My name is Alexis Garrett. I am an interior designer who has lived and breathed all things home since I can remember. As I look back, it’s clear my career in design began as a young girl who lived in many homes - fourteen before I went to college.
I loved rearranging furniture, sewing pillows for my room, and I was always on the hunt for treasures that could make my room feel cozy. When I was young I had no idea this could turn into a career. I just thought it was what everyone did.
In my early twenties, I took a job assisting a designer in Rancho Santa Fe. I quickly went from a master of drycleaning pick-up to rearranging materials and giving my opinions on presentations the principal designer was creating. Before long, she was giving me projects to work on which kickstarted my career in interior design.
Since then, I have worked on everything from commercial spaces, to a restaurant, and a clothing boutique, but I really found my calling in helping families build their forever homes. I had the good fortune and tremendous honor to design beautiful homes for families throughout North County San Diego, and established my own design firm, AGD.
Our ethos at AGD, was to create homes that told the family’s story. When we completed a home, we wanted the family to feel like it was lived in and perfectly represented the way they lived and mirrored their style. Over the years, we designed everything from Santa Barbara Spanish to English cottage to ultra-modern and everything in between.
In the spring of 2023, I made the decision to close AGD. We had a full slate of clients and a wonderful team but I felt called to spend my energy differently. Since then, I have been pursuing my lifelong passion for art. I haven’t completely stepped away from design, though, I continue to accept consult engagements selectively.
